Artist statement

Sachi Oba is best known for her abstract paintings made from bright contrasting acrylic paint colors with flowing gravitational drips and melting techniques. “I like to allow the paint to move organically." she has said. “I believe that losing a little control of your paint’s movement allows for unique shapes and borders to form.” With its emphasis on tactile paint finishes and scalloped lines and borders, her work has been described as a kind of free flowing abstract expressionist painting. " I want the viewer to have the urge to touch my pieces, much like you have the urge to touch surfaces in nature." Each is piece is unique and not reproducible.
